Developing countries in Asia were the most affected by the extreme energy crises in 2022. The region’s dependence on fossil fuel bears a range of drawbacks, from energy insecurity, financial risks and stranded assets to environmental and climate risks. However, the energy crises have opened up opportunities for developing Asia to rethink the status quo. The solution lies in renewable energy – a more secure and sustainable alternative.
